How Phone Numbers Work in Edvak EHR
When you request a phone number in Edvak EHR:
- The system generates a computer-generated phone number.
- This number is used for outbound calls and SMS messages sent from the EHR to patients.
Important to Note:
- If a patient calls back the outbound number, the call will be automatically forwarded to the phone number entered by your practice during setup.
- Edvak EHR does not support receiving incoming calls directly within the EHR system.
- Instead, incoming calls are routed to the designated forwarding number provided by the user.
This ensures seamless communication while maintaining system limitations around direct inbound call handling.
How to Request a Phone Number in Edvak EHR
Follow the steps below to request and configure a phone number:
Step 1: Navigate to Practice Settings
- Go to Settings.
- Click on Practice Settings.
- Scroll down until you find the Messages & Calls section.
Step 2: Choose Phone Number Type
You will see two configuration options:
- Practice Wide – Select this option if you need one single phone number for the entire practice.
- Location Specific – Select this option if you need unique phone numbers for each practice location.
Choose the option that best fits your operational needs.
Step 3: Select Area Code
- Enter the desired area code.
- The system will generate a list of available phone numbers based on that area code.
- Select the preferred number from the list.
Step 4: Enter Call Forwarding Number
- In the field below the selected number, enter the phone number where incoming calls should be forwarded.
- This should be the number your staff will use to receive patient calls.
Step 5: Save Settings
- Click Save to complete the setup process.
Timeline for Phone Number Activation
Once the phone number is selected and saved:
- The number will be activated within 3 business days.
- After activation, it will be ready for outbound calls and SMS communication.
